The Division of School Community University Partnership will facilitate dynamic partnerships between businesses, community-based organizations, schools, colleges and universities. Special attention will be given to building a world-class relationship with our partners in the public and private, primary and secondary, education systems.

Description:
The goal of our agency is to help students succeed. We serve students from kindergarten through college (K-16). Often success means getting a tutor for students and that is what we do! We want to find students that are looking for opportunities to volunteer and help students that struggle with school subjects.

UVU's School Community University Partnership (SCUP) has been developed to
help K-16 students find success with their academic endeavors by:

(1) accessing all applicable on-campus and community resources;
(2) supplying low cost, personalized, academic tutoring;
(3) providing professional career & academic counseling; and
(4) giving follow-up assistance as needed.

History:
In 1991, Utah Valley State College (now Utah Valley University) joined hands with the U.S. Department of Education as well as Alpine, Nebo, Provo, and Weber School districts, and two community-based programs to help 200 students who were failing in school. There were only 12 such partnerships.

It was uncertain what kind of success we would have with students since other things had failed. What we found were some of the brightest and best students our staff had ever worked with. Each individual and family was unique, therefore a specifically designed tutoring plan was created for each situation.

It has been our privilege to assist thousands of students since 1991 and the results have been almost miraculous. Students who felt they had no future or purpose have now been given optimism and hope allowing these individuals and families peace of mind.

Today, SCUP is expanding to help more students and to solve some of the problems that afflict our community.
