The mission of the Utah County Crisis Line is to help people through their current crisis and provide them with agency referrals for further assistance.

Description:
The Utah County Crisis Line is a 24-hour listening agency and referral service for people of all ages in crisis situations. Staff and volunteers at the Crisis line work to de-escalate general crisis and suicide situations by helping callers find solutions to their problems through personal and community resources.

History:
The Crisis Line was established in 1971 by a BYU professor and a group of his graduate psychology students. It began on the BYU campus and soon moved to a small home in Provo.
In 1991 the Crisis Line moved in with the Gathering Place, an addiction treatment agency, where it ran out of their basement for 15 years.
In January 2007, the Crisis Line moved to the Center for Women and Children in Crisis. Today the Crisis Line is co-located at the Center for Women and Children in Crisis’s Domestic Violence Shelter. Although co-located and working closely with the CWCIC, the Crisis Line remains governed by its own articles of incorporation and non-profit status. It is considered to be a separate agency from the Center.
The purpose of the Crisis Line is to specifically serve individuals who are struggling with suicidal thoughts but also helps a variety of other individuals in other types of crisis.
