Family Support And Treatment Center
Logo

The Family Support & Treatment Center is a nonprofit organization working towards the prevention and treatment of abuse and trauma.

Description:
The Family Support & Treatment Center is one of the few agencies in the valley with a primary focus of child abuse prevention. Programs address prevention at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. School-based prevention programs teach kids how to prevent their own abuse; parenting programs assist parents to learn different skills than those they grew up with; and the crisis nursery provides a safe environment for kids when parents are under stress and therefore could be at risk of abusing their kids. Therapy assists both kids and adults who have been abused or who have experienced another type of trauma to heal from the pain of difficult life experiences.

History:
The Family Support Center began in July of 1984 in a small house in Provo. In 1989, the Center combined with another agency that ran the Parents United program, and the agency took the "DBA" of Family Support & Treatment Center. By combining both prevention and treatment services, the agency is able to provide a more well-rounded opportunity for community members who want to move their family to a more healthy level of functioning. The agency moved to Orem in 1995 and since then has renovated and added to the building several times to more fully accommodate the number of families who need help. We appreciate the help of many volunteers, for without them, we would not be able to serve the number of children and families we do. Thanks to all for your support and help.
