Intermountain Specialized Abuse Treatment Center (Isat Center)

[ View Programs ]
Last updated on February 8, 2008

To provide specialized services to individuals and families affected by abuse, in order to help in the healing process and prevent future victimization.

Description:
The major focus of ISAT is the prevention and treatment of child abuse, domestic violence, substance abuse, and related issues through comprehensive outpatient programs.

ISAT utilizes a "family focused" treatment approach that prevents fragmenting families by offering therapy to all members in one location, at one time with a coordinated, consistent treatment plan.

ISAT has the capacity to provide the full range of services required by families and individuals including individual, couples, and family therapy; educational and therapeutic groups; and psychological evaluations. ISAT has knowledge of and cooperates extensively with all legal, medical and social service agencies involved with abuse issues.

Clients served by ISAT include both male and female children and adolescents who are victims of various types of child sexual abuse, adult and adolescent victims of domestic violence, children who witness domestic violence, adults who were molested as children, adult and juvenile sexual abuse offenders, domestic violence perpetrators, children who molest children, siblings of abuse victims, non-offending parents of abuse victims, and adolescents and adults dealing with substance abuse issues.

History:
Prior to 1984, ISAT was known as the Village Counseling Center under the sponsorship of Utah Girls' Village. Since both programs needed to develop in their own direction, and ISAT needed to broaden its scope to include male victims and offenders, ISAT became a completely independent agency with no connection to Utah Girls' Village. ISAT changed its name in February 1994 to Intermountain Specialized Abuse Treatment Center to reflect its increased service to clients affected by all types of abuse, particularly domestic violence. ISAT currently operates centers in Salt Lake City, Provo, Price, Ogden, Brigham City, Layton, Cedar City, and St. George, Utah.
