Description:
Welcome Baby is a free home visitation program committed to helping new parents face the uncertainties that come from raising a child. Volunteer home visitors come once a month to the homes of first-time parents to bring them information and support. They focus on the strengths of families, by empowering parents with knowledge, skills and resources to help them feel more secure and confident as they begin this new adventure.
History:
The Welcome Baby volunteer home visitation program was created in 1999 when United Way of Utah County formed a partnership with the Utah County Health Department under the Success by Six philosophy. United Way provides the volunteers, while the Health Department provides the curriculum.

Overall Experience

Not only have I been able to share information and help families, I have been learning new things and making new friends!

I am an intern for Welcome Baby, and have been a volunteer for two months. I have learned very valuable information about the community, and what I will need for my own parenting experience. I have had a spectacular time helping other people to learn about this information, and I have definitely made new friends with my fellow volunteers as well as the families I teach. There is nothing more rewarding than the feeling you get from helping other people!
