4-H Mentoring : Youth And Families With Promise
| Last updated on February 16, 2009 |
To help youth achieve their potential by improving academic performance, increasing social skills and strengthening family bonds
Description:
4-H Mentoring provides mentors for children ages 10-14 in selected schools in Utah County. It is similar to Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Children are chosen by their need and what school they attend.
Mentors spend 1-2 hours with their mentee per week for one calendar year (or more if they choose). One week per month is a provided activity by 4-H. These activities include bowling, attending a play, swimming, etc.
All mentors are given training and/or support monthly. Mentors can make a difference in the life of a child by simply being a friend and role-model.
