Our vision is to help children learn to read and write and watch their self-esteem grow!

Description:
The Pleasant Grove Literacy Center offers tutoring to children that need help improving their reading and writing skills. The tutoring is one-on-one and is done by volunteer tutors. Our hours are from 1:00 -6:30pm, Monday through Thursday. We assign you a student(s) for a specific day(s) of the week at a specific time. We require a 3-6 month commitment period, this insures that our students are not left without a tutor during crucial times. We love working with collage students who need credit, so come by and see us. We can help.
Our goal is for each student to graduate from the program by passing our assessment test one reading level above their current grade level. We also have a goal to improve each students' confidence in themselves and their abilities. Many students are deferred to a waiting list because we don't have enough tutors. The tutoring is done at our center located in the Pleasant Grove Library.

History:
The Pleasant Grove Literacy Center was started in 1999, formally associated with Family Literacy Center Inc. Staring out small, with in two years the P.G. Library Literacy Center grew into a home for those with reading and writing challenges. In 2005-2006 we were fortunate to have received a grant that was used to buy more materials and equipment. We now have state of the art computers, educational software and a television / DVD player. The children love it!

Directions:

When coming from Provo, travel north on State St. Turn right at the Purple Turtle. When you reach Center St. turn left and almost immediatly turn left again into the library parking lot. We are located in the upstairs of the library.

Wonderful

The staff was friendly and knowlegable. I loved working with my student one on one. The program was easy to follow, and i feel that i have gained great experience. The atmosphere of the P.G.
