Our mission statement is to improve the quality of life of individuals with disabilities through a variety of recreation and education experiences.
Description:
Our goal is to offer year-round services to anyone who wants to take advantage of them regardless of ability, location or financial situation.
The Kostopulos Dream Foundation offers:
- Summer Residential Camp: 10 one-week residential summer camp and five one-week travel trip adventures that serve individuals with disabilities. Summer camp ensures a caring and supportive environment as campers participate in traditional and non-traditional summer camp activities. Campers grow both personally and socially as they ride horses, swim in the heated pool, traverse a 25-foot-high ropes course, play basketball, climb on the playground, create arts and crafts, discover the mountains, and enjoy other community-based activities.
- Mini-camps: Offered once a month from September to May. Participants sleep overnight at Camp K and enjoy two square meals and special activities during their stay.
- Adult Social Club and Teen Quest: Programs for adults and teens that offer weekly activities both at our facilities and throughout the community. Participants develop a sense of belonging with others and increase their self awareness through organized activities that include dances, karaoke-nights, arts and crafts, hikes, bowling, holiday celebrations, and other community-based activities.
- K-Kid Adventures: An after-school program for elementary children with disabilities that focuses on the development of leisure, independence and resources.
-Special Programs: We offer special programs such as Snow Adventures, Drama Club, Fitness Fun, Art Expressions, and Horseback Riding for teens and adults with disabilities. We also go on an annual snowmobile trip and Spring Break trip.
History:
In 1963 Dan Kostopulos and several other community leaders dedicated 25 acres of Emigration Canyon to be used by individuals with disabilities of all ages for leisure activities. Since then, Camp Kostopulos has provided recreation programs that focus on social development and community integration for children and adults who have special needs. The Kostopulos Dream Foundation, as we are called now, provides a unique service in the Intermountain West region being the only camp in a 500-mile radius to provide services to individuals of ages and types of disabilities or special medical needs.
