Project Linus

Last updated on November 6, 2007

We provide love, security, and comfort to children ages 18 and under through the gift of homemade blankets. These blankets are for children who are seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise in need. We also provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities for the benefit of children. Individuals and groups can make blankets which are quilted, tied, crocheted, knitted or made of fleece, and donate them to the organization. (PLEASE NOTE FOR EAGLE SCOUT PROJECTS: project must not consist of more than half fleece blankets, as our demand for fleece blankets is not high.)

Description:
Project Linus is a national, 100% volunteer non-profit group. We have over 340 chapters nationwide. These chapters provide homemade blankets to children in need in their local communities. Blankets are donated through hospitals, shelters, and other charitable organizations, and to individuals as needs are identified.

History:
Project Linus is a national organization, with headquarters in Bloomington Illinois. There are over 340 chapters in the United States. Our chapter has been operating for over 5 years (I am the second coordinator). We have donated more than 3500 blankets locally to Utah Valley, Timpanogos, and American Fork Hospitals, to local police and fire departments, to the Children's Justice Center, Guardian Ad Litem and other organizations and individuals. We also donate blankets every Christmas to Santa Flight, a project sponsored through Angel Flight of Utah to provide Christmas to the children on the Indian Reservations in Southern Utah.
