The Clothesline Project
Volunteer Opportunity Details:
The Clothesline project was established in 1990 when the Cape Cod Women's Defense Agenda learned that during the same time period of the Vietnam War, 58,000 soldiers were killed and 51,000 women in the United States were killed by men claiming to love them. Our Clothesline is made up of t-shirts created by people in the UVU community and surrounding areas who are survivors of violence or created by the loved ones of those who've experienced violence. The Clothesline Project is a powerful witness of the violence many live with. It provides a healing outlet for those who were forcibly silenced. Its goal is to raise awareness and stir the viewers to action in an effort to end the epidemic of violence. It is displayed regularly at Utah Valley University in October and April. There is no training requirement and anyone 18 and over can volunteer. Please be aware that this is an emotionally sensitive project and we ask all participants to be respectful. Please refer to our website to view the Clothesline Project and for more detailed information. This opportunity is sponsored by: Equity In Education: Training & Resource Center
