Reading is the key to success!! Preparing Children to Succeed in School and Beyond

Last updated on June 16, 2008

The Pleasant Grove Literacy Center needs volunteer reading and writing tutors. Helping a child with their reading not only helps them do well in school, it also gives them confidence and raises their self-esteem. Tutoring is one-on-one with a student and usually consists of helping the student read a book and doing a corresponding worksheet. Tutoring sessions are 30-45min 2times a week. Our current Summer Tutoring hours are from 9:00am - 3:00pm and we are open Mon-Thurs. Our hours return to 1:00pm-7:00pm in the fall. For only 2 hours a week you can change a child's life. Many students are put on a waiting list because we don't have enough tutors.

No experience is needed, we use an easy to follow program. Training consists of watching the director or assistant tutor once.

Wonderful

The staff was friendly and knowlegable. I loved working with my student one on one. The program was easy to follow, and i feel that i have gained great experience. The atmosphere of the P.G. Litercy Center is much like a classroom, and the kids really enjoy it. Im so grateful for my opportunity. Thanks a bunch
