Silver Bowl Winner's Volunteer Efforts Helped Save A Landmark
In 1988 the Payson landmark, Peeteetneet School, was scheduled to be demolished. Helen Scott stepped up and helped save Peeteeneet and convert it into a museum of pioneer artifacts and a center for community events such as classes, plays, concerts and weddings. In the 20 years since then, Helen has volunteered 20-29 hours a week as a public speaker, tour guide and advocate for the museum. Despite many challenges in her life, she has never been afraid to speak up for her community. The small town of Because of her years of service she was chosen as this year's Utah County Silver Bowl recipient. She was recognized by the Lietenant Governor at a recent luncheon and presented with the prestigious Silver Bowl, an award given every year to an outstanding volunteer from each county in Utah State. |
