Living up to their slogan, employees from Nestlé volunteered to support the community by "Helping provide good food and enhancing the good life" by participating in the nationwide Nestlé's National Day of Volunteering at Community Action Services and Food Bank.

"We are seeing a huge need in our own backyard that we need to help," said Art Leifer, product applications and factory services manager for Nestlé and board president for Community Action. "Community Action Services and Food Bank provides key services and programs to help those in need."

Approximately 20 employees from Nestlé's Springville location came to Community Action and provided their services by painting, sorting and assembling food distribution boxes, gathering information and supply packages for the HEAT program, planting flowers, laying mulch and more.

The service event was one of many projects across the country in celebration of Nestlé's National Day of Volunteering. More than 700 employees in 25 different cities volunteered their time to many organizations in need throughout their communities. Nestlé provided company time, transportation and resources for each task. "You won't find any group more dedicated than these people [Community Action and Nestlé Employees]," said Leifer.

Community Action Services and Food Bank serves more than 100 struggling families a day by providing food for them. It is also starting the yearly HEAT program that helps clients pay their utility bills.

"What Nestlé accomplished today is giving us a head start in our HEAT and food bank programs," said LeeAnne Stanley, operations and finance manager for Community Services and Food Bank. "Nestlé has always been very generous. They are a very important partner and have helped us in many ways."

Volunteers worked from 8:30 a.m. to 4 in the afternoon and completed many needed projects. More than 2,000 Heat packets were made. They planted flower beds with pansies and mulch as well as trimmed the landscape, and many rooms in the building were painted.

"We appreciate the support of Nestlé to help donate materials and services to be able to accomplish all we have done," said Leifer.
Community Action is grateful for the Nestlé volunteers and is always open to people wanting to make a difference and donate.
